Hudson Landmarks Challenge
For one of our summer learning challenges, kids go to a landmark in Hudson and take a photo or draw a picture of it. They submit those photos and artwork in order to receive their prize for that challenge.
Here are a list of the Hudson landmarks:
- Case-Barlow Farm
- Clock Tower
- Historic Town Hall
- Gazebo on the Green
- Hudson Library
- Hudson Springs Park
- Old Log Cabin
- Old Church on the Green
Weekly Mascot Map Clues
Our dragon mascot will be hiding in the window of a different Hudson business each week during the Summer Learning Program (SLP), from June 1 – August 15. When kids find the dragon, they go in that business and get their map stamped. They return their stamped map by August 15 (the end of the Summer Learning Program) in order to be eligible for the prize drawing!
The dragon will fly around town and be in a new location each Monday morning!
Each Wednesday, we will post a clue on the blog to help you figure out where he is hiding that week. The clue will be included below, right here on this blog page. Good luck and have fun!
If you need a mascot map, you can download and print one from here.
Week 1 (June 1 – June 6), Clue:
Is our dragon mascot what you seek?
We want you to find him easily this first week!
If you pick up your SLP bag at our favorite place,
Look around closely … you should see his face!
Week 2 (June 8 – June 13), Clue:
Where could the dragon be this week?
Well, in all of this heat,
He needed a cold treat,
So he headed down Library Street!
Week 3 (June 15 – June 20), Clue:
Our dragon is on the move again!
But he’s not ready to find his den.
Instead he wants to hear the music play
From colorful keys you can press night or day!
Week 4 (June 22 – June 27), Clue:
Welcome back to Wonderland!
We’re excited to soon see you!
If you drop by our building this week,
You might “spy” the dragon, too!
Week 5 (June 29 – July 4), Clue:
I scream … you scream … we all scream for … ???
He may be a fiery dragon, but Norbert knows where to find the cold treats in town when it’s hot outside.
He must be there now. Can you find him?
Week 6 (July 6 – July 11), Clue:
Books, books, we love books!
And our dragon? He does, too.
But where else in town do they have lots of books?
We bet he’s there waiting for you!
Week 7 (July 13 – July 18), Clue:
Oh no! Our dragon is hungry again.
But where in our town would he go?
A little sweet treat would surely be neat,
One made with peace, love, and dough!
Week 8 (July 20 – July 25), Mascot Map Clue:
Our dragon, Norbert, is on the move.
And this week he needs a new ‘do.
A little “snip” here and a little “snip” there,
And soon he’ll look good as new!
Week 9 (July 27 – August 2), Mascot Map Clue:
Don’t give him coffee …
Don’t give him tea …
Just open the door …
Now where can he be?!
Week 10 (August 3 – August 8), Mascot Map Clue:
Our dragon friend, Norbert, must have been hungry and hot, because this week he is back where he was in Week 2! (extra hint: all of the weekly clues are still here on the blog, if you need them!)
Week 11, FINAL WEEK! (August 10 – August 15), Mascot Map Clue:
Our dragon friend, Norbert, had a wonderful time exploring our beautiful town of Hudson. Now he has returned home to see all of his favorite librarians! Can you find him?
Remember to turn in your mascot maps by 2 p.m. on Saturday! (You may submit your map even if you did not find Norbert every week!) We have boxes for them both outside on the curbside table and also in the Children’s Room.
Thanks for participating. We hope you had fun!
How to Upload a Photo to “SLP Challenges”
Several of the challenges in our Summer Learning Program (SLP) require you to take and upload a photo to your account on the SLP website. We have created a tutorial on how to upload a photo to SLP Challenges, both from a computer and from a phone. Click on the link below to read the tutorial:
