Fall Storytimes: In-Person or Virtual!

Registration for our Fall session of storytimes is now underway! We will be offering both in-person and virtual options this Fall. The Fall session runs from September 13 through November 8.

Important note: For in-person library programs, including storytimes, face masks must be worn by all attendees ages 2 and older, regardless of vaccination status.

For more information about dates, times, schedules, and registration, please see our storytime page here.

Spring Storytime Session

Our daily storytimes are on a brief spring break for the next two weeks. The Spring session of storytimes begins on Monday April 5 at 10:30 a.m. and lasts for five weeks.

Families are invited to pick a day they would like to attend — Monday through Thursday — and register once for the Spring session. Registration can be found here.

All daily storytimes are live and interactive on Zoom with your favorite Hudson Library children’s librarians. They are geared toward ages 2-5, but all children are welcome!

Winter Storytime Sign-ups

Join your favorite children’s librarians on Zoom each week for “Storytime for Everyone,” with stories, songs, and a bunch of fun!

Storytimes will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday through Thursday from January 11 to March 18. Select which day of the week you would like to attend; registration is required once for the entire ten-week session.

Please see our storytime page here for more information and registration.

Fall Storytimes: Live, Interactive, and for All Ages!

Our live, interactive Fall storytime session begins next week on Zoom! We have recently updated the schedule, in order to best accommodate everyone. Instead of age-specific storytimes, we will have a family storytime each day at 10:30 a.m. entitled “Storytime for Everyone!” Though geared toward children ages 2-5, all ages are welcome.

Here are the details …

This storytime session is for everyone! Have a curious preschooler? Children all different ages? Our Fall storytime session is for all of them! Bring the whole family for stories, songs, and a bunch of fun.

The Fall session runs for 12 weeks, from September 14 – December 3. All of our Fall storytimes will be held virtually via Zoom.

Registration is required. Please register for only one weekly storytime per child.

For more information, go to our events page here and select “storytime” in the drop-down menu.

Storytimes from Space!

In honor of our Space Weeks, we want to share a fun website called Story Time from Space.

Families can listen to storytimes from astronauts in space! In each segment, an astronaut will read a story while aboard his or her spacecraft up in space!

Featured stories include Endeavour’s Long Journey, The Incredible Intergalactic Journey Home, Khalifa And Amal Go To Space, A Moon of My Own, Mousetronaut, and Rosie Revere, Engineer, to name just a few.

The site includes more than twenty stories to choose from, as well as several “Science Time” videos in which astronauts perform science experiments while in space.

Story Time from Space is a nonprofit educational program.

New Outdoor Story Walk

The library has a brand-new outdoor story walk! Families can follow the stations, reading a book as they go along. The story walk is located on the lawn behind the patio, and it is always open.

The current book is You Are a Lion!: And Other Fun Yoga Poses by Taeeun Yoo, and it encourages not only reading but also active movement.

After you read each page, you can practice being the animal and doing the yoga pose that it corresponds to, or you can simply enjoy reading the pages as you walk along the lawn.

Check it out, and let us know what you think!

Staff-made Videos for You!

Members of our Youth Services staff have made a variety of videos for our young patrons: from storytimes to crafts to experiments!

Links to each video are on our “Videos” page here on our blog, and most will be on our facebook page, too. And we will keep making more, so check back here often!

We would love to hear your ideas for more fun children’s videos that you would like to see from us, so feel free to leave a comment.
