Join us on our Facebook page this afternoon, Thursday June 4, at 2 p.m. EST for a live children’s event! Author Suzanne Slade and illustrator Cozbi A. Cabrera will read aloud and discuss their children’s book Exquisite: The Poetry and Life of Gwendolyn Brooks with a Q & A session afterwards.

In 1950, Gwendolyn Brooks became the first African-American to win the Pulitzer Prize. You can find more information about Ms. Brooks and her poetry here.

The Hudson Library is partnering with PBS Books to offer this live program to our patrons, in conjunction with PBS’s “Trailblazing Women for Kids” summer-long celebration in honor of the women’s vote centennial.
